Expert Volvo maintenance and repair from ASE-certified technicians at ExperTec Automotive Anaheim.

Inland Anaheim heat is tough on a turbocharged Volvo. Summer traffic on the 5, 91 and 57, plus stop-and-go crowds near the Disneyland Resort, push cooling systems, transmissions and A/C hard, and they can expose small problems quickly.
Our Lincoln Ave shop near Downtown Anaheim keeps family-hauling XC90s, commuter XC60s and S60 sedans running strong. Our ASE-certified technicians know the Drive-E four-cylinder engines, from oil consumption checks and coolant expansion tank leaks to PCV and transmission concerns, along with older five-cylinder timing belt service and T8 hybrid diagnostics. Dealer-level scan tools let us read every Volvo control module.
We use OEM-quality parts and back every repair with a 3yr/36k nationwide warranty. ExperTec Automotive has served Orange County for 30+ years and has been voted OC’s best auto repair 10 years in a row, a short drive from Angel Stadium.
Modern Volvos follow a fixed schedule of numbered services about every 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first, and the driver display shows a service reminder as each interval approaches. Every visit includes an oil and filter change with Volvo-approved synthetic oil and a multipoint inspection, while larger services add items like engine and cabin air filters, brake fluid, spark plugs and drive belt inspection at specific mileage steps; exact intervals vary by model/engine. Volvo considers automatic transmission fluid long-life, but many independent shops, including ours, recommend inspecting or changing it at higher mileage, especially in heat. T8 plug-in hybrids follow the same schedule plus hybrid system checks, and fully electric models follow a lighter time-based schedule.
Upon completion of the standard maintenance tasks we provide an additional 30-point inspection to make sure that all components in your Volvo are up to date and working well.

At ExperTec Automotive, we’ve been repairing Volvo vehicles in Orange County for over 30 years. Even well-built Volvo models develop specific problems as they age, and freeway commutes on the 5, 91 and 57 and inland summer heat add to the wear. Our Anaheim technicians diagnose these issues quickly, follow Volvo factory repair procedures and use quality parts you can trust.
Volvo’s older five-cylinder engines, used in models such as the S60, V70, XC70 and XC90 through roughly the mid-2010s, use a timing belt that must be replaced on a mileage and age schedule, often around 100,000 miles or 10 years, varying by model/engine. Because these are interference engines, a broken belt causes major damage. We replace the belt, tensioner, idler and water pump together.
Older all-wheel-drive Volvos, including the XC90, XC70, S60 and V70, use an angle gear, or bevel gear, to send power to the rear wheels. It runs hot and its fluid is rarely changed, which can lead to leaks, worn seals and eventually failure that leaves only front-wheel drive. We inspect for leaks, service the angle gear fluid and replace failed units.
Many 2016 and newer XC90s with optional air suspension can develop air spring leaks, compressor failures or ride height sensor faults. Symptoms include a corner sitting low after parking, a compressor running often or suspension warning messages. We perform leak testing, read suspension data with dealer-level scan tools, replace the failed spring, compressor or sensor and calibrate ride height.
Volvo T8 Recharge plug-in hybrids can display charging errors, reduced electric range or a range of warning lights. Many of these problems trace back to a weak 12V or auxiliary battery, charging cable or onboard charger issues or software that needs updating. We test both 12V batteries, read hybrid system data with dealer-level scan tools and verify charging before you leave.
Older Volvo five- and six-cylinder engines rely on a PCV oil trap, sometimes called the flame trap, that can clog with sludge, building up crankcase pressure. Symptoms include a whistle at idle, oil leaks from seals, oil around the dipstick and higher oil consumption. Drive-E engines can have related PCV issues. We test crankcase pressure and replace the separator, hoses and seals.
Many Volvos use an Aisin automatic transmission that can develop harsh or delayed shifts, flare between gears or a bump when coming to a stop as fluid ages, especially in heat and heavy traffic. Volvo considers the fluid long-life, but we often find it worn at higher mileage. We scan adaptation data, check fluid condition, perform fluid exchanges and reset adaptations.

For most Orange County drivers we recommend it. Heat and stop-and-go traffic wear transmission fluid faster than ideal conditions, and a fluid exchange at higher mileage, often somewhere around 60,000 miles, is inexpensive protection for a costly component.
