Expert Toyota maintenance and repair from ASE-certified technicians at ExperTec Automotive Anaheim.

On any Anaheim freeway, from the 5 to the 91 to the 57, you are surrounded by Toyotas. Highlanders on the school run, Siennas full of Disneyland visitors and Tundras towing out to the desert all deal with inland summer heat and heavy stop-and-go traffic that Toyota classifies as severe driving.
Our shop on Lincoln Ave near Downtown Anaheim keeps those vehicles on schedule. Our ASE-certified technicians handle oil changes, tire rotations, brake service, cooling system work and hybrid diagnostics, plus known items such as V6 water pump leaks and secondary air injection faults on the 5.7L V8. Dealer-level scan tools let us read every Toyota module and reset maintenance reminders properly.
We install OEM-quality parts and back every repair with a 3yr/36k nationwide warranty. ExperTec Automotive has served Orange County for 30+ years and has been voted OC’s best auto repair 10 years in a row, minutes from Angel Stadium.
Toyota uses a fixed-interval schedule built around 5,000-mile steps rather than an oil life monitor. Most current models that use 0W-16 or 0W-20 synthetic oil call for an oil and filter change every 10,000 miles or 12 months, with a tire rotation and multipoint inspection at each 5,000-mile point in between. Bigger services at about 30,000 and 60,000 miles add air and cabin filter replacement plus deeper inspections of brakes, drive shafts and fluids, while spark plugs and coolant follow long intervals that vary by model/engine. The dashboard “Maint Reqd” light is simply a reminder timed to these intervals. Toyota’s special operating conditions, such as towing, frequent short trips, extended idling and dusty roads, call for more frequent service, which fits many Orange County drivers.
Upon completion of the standard maintenance tasks we provide an additional 30-point inspection to make sure that all components in your Toyota are up to date and working well.

At ExperTec Automotive, we’ve been repairing Toyota vehicles in Orange County for over 30 years. Even well-built Toyota models develop specific problems as they age, and freeway commutes on the 5, 91 and 57 and inland summer heat add to the wear. Our Anaheim technicians diagnose these issues quickly, follow Toyota factory repair procedures and use quality parts you can trust.
Toyota hybrid batteries are durable but age, especially in heat, showing up as reduced fuel economy, a battery that charges and depletes quickly or warning lights. A clogged battery cooling fan or filter, common in pet-owner and dusty cars, speeds that aging. We read individual block voltages with dealer-level scan tools, clean the cooling system and explain repair or replacement options.
The 5.7L V8 in many Tundra, Sequoia and Land Cruiser models can suffer secondary air injection pump or valve failure, often after moisture gets into the system. It usually triggers a check engine light and can put the truck into reduced-power mode. We diagnose the specific pump, valve or wiring fault and repair it with OEM-quality parts so the truck runs and passes smog.
Many 2016 and later Tacomas with the 3.5L V6 and six-speed automatic are known for frequent shifting, hesitation and gear hunting on hills or at highway speed. While often a calibration trait rather than a failure, worn fluid or other faults can make it worse. We check for software updates, inspect fluid condition and fault data and rule out mechanical problems before any repair.
Prius, Tacoma, Tundra and 4Runner models are frequent targets for catalytic converter theft in Southern California. The first sign is usually a sudden, very loud exhaust roar when starting the car, often with a check engine light. We replace stolen converters with California-compliant units, repair damaged pipes and sensors and can install protective shields to make your Toyota a harder target.
Some earlier 2GR-FE V6 engines, roughly 2005 to 2009, used a VVT-i oil feed line with a rubber section that could crack and leak oil quickly, risking engine damage if ignored. Many have already been updated with an all-metal line. We inspect the line on any older V6 Toyota we see and replace an original rubber-section line with the updated part.
Third-generation Prius models, roughly 2010 to 2015, are known for EGR cooler and EGR passage clogging with carbon, which can lead to misfires, rough running and, in many cases, head gasket failure with coolant loss. We clean or replace the EGR valve, cooler and intake passages proactively, often around 100,000 to 150,000 miles, and pressure-test the cooling system for early gasket leaks.

For most newer models using 0W-16 or 0W-20 synthetic oil under normal conditions, yes. If you make lots of short trips, sit in heavy traffic, tow or drive on dusty roads, Toyota’s special operating conditions call for oil changes about every 5,000 miles, which fits many Orange County drivers.
