Mazda Repair in Anaheim, CA

Expert Mazda maintenance and repair from ASE-certified technicians at ExperTec Automotive Anaheim.

Voted #1 Best of Orange County 2026 - 10 years in a row

Expert Mazda Service from Certified Technicians

The Mazda CX-9, CX-90 and CX-50 have become favorite family haulers in Anaheim, and plenty of Mazda6 and Mazda3 commuters tackle the 5, 91 and 57 every day. ExperTec Automotive at 718 W. Lincoln Ave, near Downtown Anaheim, gives those drivers dependable, detail-focused care.

Inland summers bring heat that tests cooling systems, A/C and engine oil, especially on turbocharged SkyActiv engines and older CX-9 V6 models. Long waits in Disneyland Resort traffic or after a game at Angel Stadium add idle hours that Mazda treats as severe use. We adjust service intervals and inspections to match.

For more than 30 years ExperTec has served Orange County, and we have been voted OC’s best auto repair 10 years in a row. Our ASE-certified technicians use dealer-level scan tools and OEM-quality parts, and every job is covered by our 3-year/36,000-mile nationwide warranty.

Mazda Regular Maintenance

Mazda offers two maintenance schedules. The Flexible schedule, for normal driving, uses a maintenance reminder you set in the vehicle and calls for an oil and filter change about every 7,500 to 10,000 miles or 12 months, depending on model year and engine. The Fixed schedule is meant for severe conditions like frequent short trips, extended idling, stop-and-go traffic, dusty roads, towing or high heat, and shortens oil changes to roughly every 5,000 miles. Both schedules add tire rotations, filter replacements, brake fluid and coolant at set milestones. Many Orange County drivers are best served by the Fixed schedule.

Factory Guideline Maintenance Schedules

Upon completion of the standard maintenance tasks we provide an additional 30-point inspection to make sure that all components in your Mazda are up to date and working well.

Flexible Schedule (normal use)

~7,500–10,000 miles / 12 months

  • Engine oil & filter change, reset reminder
  • Tire rotation and pressure check
  • Inspect brakes, suspension and steering
  • Cabin air filter ~every 15k–20k
  • Engine air filter ~30k–40k (varies by model/engine)

Fixed Schedule (severe use)

~5,000 miles / 6 months

  • Engine oil & filter change
  • Inspect air and cabin filters (replace sooner for sand/dust)
  • Brake fluid ~every 2–3 years
  • Coolant, spark plugs and drive belt per milestone (varies by model/engine)
  • Check AWD transfer case and rear differential fluid

Common Mazda Issues We See in Anaheim — and How We Fix Them

At ExperTec Automotive, we’ve been repairing Mazda vehicles in Orange County for over 30 years. Even well-built Mazda models develop specific problems as they age, and freeway commutes on the 5, 91 and 57 and inland summer heat add to the wear. Our Anaheim technicians diagnose these issues quickly, follow Mazda factory repair procedures and use quality parts you can trust.

RX-8 rotary compression loss and flooding

The RX-8 rotary engine is known for apex seal wear and low compression, which leads to hard hot starts, rough idle and power loss. Short trips that shut the engine off cold can flood it, and the engine uses oil by design. We perform a rotary-specific compression test, check ignition coils and plugs and explain your options.

Worn engine and transmission mounts

Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-5 models are commonly reported for worn engine and transmission mounts that let excess vibration into the cabin, especially at idle in drive or when accelerating from a stop. Clunks when shifting are another clue. We inspect each mount for cracks or collapse and replace them with OEM-quality parts.

Suspension clunks from sway bar links

Front stabilizer bar end links and bushings on models such as the CX-5, Mazda3 and Mazda6 can wear, producing a clunk or rattle over bumps, driveways and speed humps. Coastal salt air and sand can speed up the wear. We inspect links, bushings, control arms and strut mounts and replace only the worn components.

Early ND MX-5 manual transmission concerns

Some early fourth-generation (ND) MX-5 Miata owners have reported manual transmission problems, including grinding, notchy shifts or internal failure, mostly on early production cars. Weekend canyon runs and spirited driving add stress. We check gear oil condition, road test for noise and shifting issues and recommend the right repair if trouble appears.

Mazda Connect screen “ghost touch”

Many Mazda Connect touchscreens from around 2014 to 2018, in models like the Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-3 and CX-5, are widely reported for phantom inputs, freezing, random reboots and Bluetooth dropouts. Heat can make it worse. We check software versions, perform updates where available and diagnose or replace the display or control unit when necessary.

Smart City Brake Support false activations

Some Mazda models with Smart City Brake Support or Smart Brake Support have been reported to brake unexpectedly or show warnings when the sensors are dirty, misaligned or faulty. A dusty windshield in front of the sensor is a common factor. We clean and inspect the sensors, check for updates and perform calibration after any windshield replacement.
