Expert Lincoln maintenance and repair from ASE-certified technicians at ExperTec Automotive Costa Mesa.

Lincoln’s quiet ride and roomy cabins suit Costa Mesa well, whether it is an Aviator gliding down Newport Blvd, a Corsair handling errands near South Coast Plaza or a Navigator packed for a weekend at the OC Fair grounds. ExperTec Automotive at 1934 Newport Blvd is the local shop that keeps them that way.
Short trips and salt air from Newport Beach are hard on oil, brakes and electrical connectors, and Lincoln’s Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor responds by calling for service sooner. Our technicians read those alerts, check the EcoBoost engines and transmissions, and stay ahead of the wear that city driving creates.
ExperTec has served Orange County for more than 30 years with ASE-certified technicians, dealer-level scan tools and OEM-quality parts. Voted OC’s best auto repair 10 years in a row, we stand behind every repair with a 3-year/36,000-mile nationwide warranty, so your Lincoln stays as comfortable as the day you bought it.
Lincoln uses the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor, which tracks engine revolutions, operating temperature, trip length and driving conditions to decide when an oil change is due, then shows a message in the cluster. Under ideal conditions it may stretch to about 10,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first, but short trips, extended idling, towing and heat bring the reminder up much sooner. The monitor only covers the oil, so items such as tire rotations, cabin and engine air filters, brake fluid, coolant, spark plugs and transfer case fluids follow separate mileage-based milestones listed for your model.
Upon completion of the standard maintenance tasks we provide an additional 30-point inspection to make sure that all components in your Lincoln are up to date and working well.

At ExperTec Automotive, we’ve been repairing Lincoln vehicles in Orange County for over 30 years. Even well-built Lincoln models develop specific problems as they age, and 55 Freeway commutes and coastal salt air add to the wear. Our Costa Mesa technicians diagnose these issues quickly, follow Lincoln factory repair procedures and use quality parts you can trust.
Some 3.5L EcoBoost engines, used in the Navigator from around 2015 to 2017, are widely reported for a rattle on cold start caused by cam phaser or timing chain wear. Other EcoBoost engines can develop timing chain stretch as well. Mileage varies by model/engine. We check cam timing data with dealer-level scan tools and recommend the correct repair.
The 3.5L and 3.7L V6 engines in models like the MKX, MKT, MKS and MKZ use a water pump driven by the timing chain inside the engine. When its seal fails, coolant can leak into the oil, which can damage the engine. A falling coolant level or milky oil are warning signs. We pressure test the system and inspect the oil.
Some 1.5L and 2.0L EcoBoost engines found in models such as the MKC and Corsair have been reported to let coolant seep into the cylinders. Look for white exhaust smoke, misfires, coolant loss without an obvious leak or overheating. We run cooling system pressure tests, combustion leak tests and borescope checks to confirm the problem.
AWD versions of the MKX, MKZ, MKT, Nautilus and similar models use a power transfer unit that sits near the hot exhaust. Its fluid can overheat, break down and leak, producing a burning smell, noise or eventual failure. Summer heat speeds it up. We inspect the seals, change the PTU fluid on schedule and repair leaks.
Lincoln’s 10-speed automatic in the Navigator and Aviator has been reported for harsh, delayed or erratic shifts, and some 6-speed automatics in models like the MKC and MKZ can shudder. Software updates and adaptive learning often play a role. We scan the transmission control module, check fluid condition, apply updates and perform relearn procedures.
Navigator models with air suspension can develop leaking air springs, a worn compressor or faulty height sensors as they age. Symptoms include the SUV sitting low after parking, a stiff or bouncy ride or a suspension warning message. We locate leaks, test the compressor and replace the failed parts so ride height and comfort return.

The Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor is accurate for most driving, and it already shortens the interval for short trips and heat. For turbocharged EcoBoost engines with heavy idling or towing, we may suggest changing oil a bit earlier than the monitor demands to protect the timing chain and turbo.
