Lexus owners in Costa Mesa expect quiet, effortless driving, whether that is an ES 350 heading to South Coast Plaza or an RX 350 on a Saturday run down Newport Blvd to the beach. ExperTec Automotive at 1934 Newport Blvd delivers the detail-minded care those vehicles deserve.
Lexus builds some of the most durable cars on the road, but short trips, salt air and constant stop-and-go still wear on brakes, fluids and rubber seals. We follow Lexus’s simple 5,000-mile service rhythm and look for the age-related items that matter, like V6 water pumps, hybrid cooling systems and suspension bushings on IS, GS and NX models.
Our ASE-certified technicians have served Orange County for more than 30 years, and we have been voted OC’s best auto repair 10 years in a row. With dealer-level scan tools, OEM-quality parts and a 3-year/36,000-mile nationwide warranty, your Lexus gets the same smooth experience it was built to give.
Lexus uses a straightforward fixed-interval schedule rather than an oil-life algorithm. Most modern models using 0W-20 or 0W-16 synthetic oil are scheduled for an oil and filter change about every 10,000 miles or 12 months, with a tire rotation and multi-point inspection every 5,000 miles or 6 months. Larger services at roughly 30,000 and 60,000 miles add filters, fluids and more detailed inspections. Lexus also lists special operating conditions, such as frequent short trips, towing, dusty roads and heavy idling, that call for shorter intervals, and many Orange County drivers fall into that category.
Upon completion of the standard maintenance tasks we provide an additional 30-point inspection to make sure that all components in your Lexus are up to date and working well.

At ExperTec Automotive, we’ve been repairing Lexus vehicles in Orange County for over 30 years. Even well-built Lexus models develop specific problems as they age, and 55 Freeway commutes and coastal salt air add to the wear. Our Costa Mesa technicians diagnose these issues quickly, follow Lexus factory repair procedures and use quality parts you can trust.
The 3.5L 2GR V6 found in many RX 350, ES 350, GS 350 and IS 350 models is known for water pump seepage as it ages, often around ~70k to 120k miles (varies by model/engine). Look for a low coolant level, pink crust near the pump or a sweet smell. We pressure test the cooling system and replace the pump with an OEM-quality part and fresh coolant.
Some older 2GR-equipped models such as the RX 350 and ES 350 used an oil cooler line with a rubber section that could deteriorate and leak oil, sometimes quickly. Lexus addressed this with an updated all-metal line. We inspect the line and fittings, confirm which version is installed and replace it if needed to prevent sudden oil loss.
The 2.5L V6 in the IS 250 uses direct injection only, and it is widely reported for carbon deposits on the intake valves that cause rough idle, cold-start misfires and check engine lights. Short city trips speed it up. We confirm the buildup with a borescope and perform a thorough intake valve cleaning to restore smooth running.
Some older ES, GS and IS models built roughly from the mid-2000s to around 2011 are known for dashboards that turn sticky, shiny or cracked, especially when parked in strong Southern California sun. The surface can create windshield glare. We inspect the dash and explain your repair or replacement options.
Lexus hybrids like the RX 450h, ES 300h, CT 200h and NX 300h are very reliable, but with age the hybrid battery, battery cooling fan and inverter coolant pump can weaken. Warning lights, reduced fuel economy or a noisy fan are early signs. We test individual battery blocks, clean cooling fans and diagnose inverter and pump faults.
Older Lexus hybrids such as the RX 400h and GS 450h use an electronically controlled brake actuator and pump that can wear out, causing a buzzing pump, multiple dash warnings and changes in pedal feel. Because it affects braking, we treat it as a priority. We scan the brake system with dealer-level tools and perform proper bleeding after repair.
