Expert Infiniti maintenance and repair from ASE-certified technicians at ExperTec Automotive Costa Mesa.

Costa Mesa has always had a soft spot for Infiniti’s sporty sedans and coupes, from the classic G35 and G37 to today’s Q50 and Q60 Red Sport. ExperTec Automotive, at 1934 Newport Blvd, has kept these cars running smoothly for more than 30 years, along with QX50 and QX60 crossovers.
Quick trips to South Coast Plaza and stop-and-go traffic on Newport Boulevard are fine for an Infiniti, but short drives and salt air from Newport Beach do take a toll on oil quality, suspension bushings and electrical connections. We check those details at every visit.
Our ASE-certified technicians use dealer-level scan tools to read Infiniti engine, transmission and steering systems, and we install OEM-quality parts. Every repair is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile nationwide warranty from a shop voted OC’s best auto repair ten years in a row.
Infiniti publishes a mileage-based maintenance schedule with two tracks: a standard schedule for typical driving and a premium (severe) schedule for short trips, heavy traffic, hot weather, towing and dusty roads. Many recent models also have a maintenance reminder in the vehicle information display that you set for oil, tires and filters. Oil intervals generally range from about 3,750-5,000 miles under premium or severe use to longer under standard conditions, varying by model/engine. Because Orange County traffic often fits the severe definition, we usually recommend the premium schedule.
Upon completion of the standard maintenance tasks we provide an additional 30-point inspection to make sure that all components in your Infiniti are up to date and working well.
~Every 5,000-7,500 miles or 6-12 months (varies by model/engine)
~Every 3,750-5,000 miles for traffic, heat and short trips
At ExperTec Automotive, we’ve been repairing Infiniti vehicles in Orange County for over 30 years. Even well-built Infiniti models develop specific problems as they age, and 55 Freeway commutes and coastal salt air add to the wear. Our Costa Mesa technicians diagnose these issues quickly, follow Infiniti factory repair procedures and use quality parts you can trust.
The VQ37VHR V6 in G37, Q50, Q60 and QX70 models is known for a failing oil gallery gasket behind the timing cover. It causes low oil pressure at idle, a timing chain rattle or VVEL warning lights. Mileage varies by engine. We confirm with oil pressure testing, then replace the gasket and inspect the timing chain components.
The QX60 and earlier JX35 with the CVT were widely reported for judder, hesitation, whining or slipping, often at varying mileage. Heat makes it worse. We scan for transmission codes, check fluid level and condition, perform software checks and fluid service with the correct CVT fluid, and give honest advice about repair or replacement options.
Older G35, FX35 and M35 models with the VQ35DE are well known for crankshaft and camshaft position sensor failures, causing stalling, hard starts or no-starts, sometimes with no warning light. We read live data to confirm the faulty sensor, replace it with an OEM-quality part and verify the engine runs smoothly.
Some G37 and EX models use an electronic steering column lock that can fail, leaving the car unable to start with a steering lock warning. It is a widely reported issue. We diagnose the lock and its communication with the intelligent key system, then repair or replace the lock assembly so you can start reliably.
G35, G37, Q50 and FX models use front compression rods with fluid-filled bushings that crack and leak over time. Symptoms include a clunk over bumps, shimmy under braking and uneven tire wear. We inspect the full front suspension, replace worn rods and arms with OEM-quality parts and perform a four-wheel alignment.
The 3.0L twin-turbo VR30 engine in the Q50 and Q60 can show reduced power, boost-related codes, or turbo and intercooler hose problems, varying by model year. We read boost and fuel trim data with dealer-level scan tools, smoke-test the intake for leaks and inspect turbochargers before recommending a targeted repair.
