Expert Mazda maintenance and repair from ASE-certified technicians at ExperTec Automotive Huntington Beach.

Huntington Beach and Mazda make a natural pair. Fun-to-drive models like the Mazda3 hatchback, CX-30 and MX-5 Miata are right at home on PCH, while CX-5 and CX-50 owners haul boards and beach gear down from the 405. ExperTec Automotive on Talbert Ave near Gothard keeps them all running right.
Coastal driving brings its own wear. Sand collects in air filters, salt mist corrodes brake hardware and suspension links, and weekend beach traffic means lots of idling. Our technicians watch for those patterns on every Mazda, from late SkyActiv models to older RX-8 rotaries and CX-7 turbos, near Huntington Central Park and Bella Terra.
ExperTec has served Orange County for more than 30 years and has been voted OC’s best auto repair 10 years in a row. With ASE-certified technicians, dealer-level scan tools, OEM-quality parts and a 3-year/36,000-mile nationwide warranty, your Mazda is in good hands.
Mazda offers two maintenance schedules. The Flexible schedule, for normal driving, uses a maintenance reminder you set in the vehicle and calls for an oil and filter change about every 7,500 to 10,000 miles or 12 months, depending on model year and engine. The Fixed schedule is meant for severe conditions like frequent short trips, extended idling, stop-and-go traffic, dusty roads, towing or high heat, and shortens oil changes to roughly every 5,000 miles. Both schedules add tire rotations, filter replacements, brake fluid and coolant at set milestones. Many Orange County drivers are best served by the Fixed schedule.
Upon completion of the standard maintenance tasks we provide an additional 30-point inspection to make sure that all components in your Mazda are up to date and working well.

At ExperTec Automotive, we’ve been repairing Mazda vehicles in Orange County for over 30 years. Even well-built Mazda models develop specific problems as they age, and PCH beach traffic, 405 commutes and salt air add to the wear. Our Huntington Beach technicians diagnose these issues quickly, follow Mazda factory repair procedures and use quality parts you can trust.
Front stabilizer bar end links and bushings on models such as the CX-5, Mazda3 and Mazda6 can wear, producing a clunk or rattle over bumps, driveways and speed humps. Coastal salt air and sand can speed up the wear. We inspect links, bushings, control arms and strut mounts and replace only the worn components.
Some early fourth-generation (ND) MX-5 Miata owners have reported manual transmission problems, including grinding, notchy shifts or internal failure, mostly on early production cars. Weekend canyon runs and spirited driving add stress. We check gear oil condition, road test for noise and shifting issues and recommend the right repair if trouble appears.
The 3.7L V6 in the 2007 to 2015 CX-9 uses a water pump driven by the timing chain inside the engine. When its seal fails, coolant can mix with the oil and cause serious engine damage, sometimes with little warning. Low coolant or milky oil are red flags. We pressure test the system and replace the pump along with the timing components.
The 2.3L direct-injected turbo engine in the CX-7, Mazdaspeed3 and Mazdaspeed6 is known for timing chain and VVT actuator wear, turbocharger failure and intake valve carbon buildup. Rattles on startup, smoke or a loss of boost are typical symptoms. Mileage varies by model/engine. We diagnose with dealer-level scan tools and boost testing.
The RX-8 rotary engine is known for apex seal wear and low compression, which leads to hard hot starts, rough idle and power loss. Short trips that shut the engine off cold can flood it, and the engine uses oil by design. We perform a rotary-specific compression test, check ignition coils and plugs and explain your options.
Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-5 models are commonly reported for worn engine and transmission mounts that let excess vibration into the cabin, especially at idle in drive or when accelerating from a stop. Clunks when shifting are another clue. We inspect each mount for cracks or collapse and replace them with OEM-quality parts.

If most of your driving is short trips, stop-and-go freeway traffic, heat or dust, Mazda’s Fixed schedule with roughly 5,000-mile oil changes is the better fit. Longer highway drives in mild weather are what the Flexible schedule was designed for, and we can help you choose.
