The 5.4L three-valve Triton V8 used in many mid-2000s F-150, Expedition and E-Series vans is well known for two-piece spark plugs that seize in the cylinder head and break during removal. Earlier Ford V8s could also eject plugs from stripped threads. We use the proper extraction tools and techniques, repair damaged threads when needed and install the correct updated plugs.
Ford trucks and SUVs with the 5.4L, 5.0L and 3.5L EcoBoost engines are known for broken or loose exhaust manifold studs, causing an exhaust leak that ticks loudly on a cold start and often quiets as the engine warms. Heat cycling and corrosion are the usual causes. We extract broken studs, check the manifold for warping and install new studs and gaskets.
Some EcoBoost engines in the Escape, Fusion and Explorer are known for coolant loss, sometimes from water pump or cylinder head issues. A sweet smell, low coolant warnings or white exhaust smoke deserve attention right away. We pressure-test the cooling system and repair the source before it damages the engine.
The 3.5L EcoBoost and other Ford engines can develop a rattle on cold start from stretched timing chains or worn cam phasers. Catching it early prevents more expensive engine damage. We diagnose the noise and replace the timing components as a complete job.
Heavy F-Series trucks, Transit vans and work vehicles go through brake pads and rotors faster, especially in Orange County traffic. We inspect brakes at every visit and use quality pads and rotors rated for your vehicle’s load.
Fords can develop issues with SYNC infotainment, backup cameras, power liftgates and battery drain. We use Ford-capable scan tools to trace the fault and update or repair modules instead of replacing parts by guesswork.
