If you’re in need of reliable Chevrolet maintenance or repair in Huntington Beach, look no further than ExperTec Automotive. Chevy vehicles are known for their durability, versatility and all-American performance, whether you drive a Silverado, Equinox, Malibu, Tahoe or a Bolt EV. Our experienced team is here to keep your vehicle dependable and road-ready.
Our ASE-certified technicians work on every Chevrolet model, from workhorse trucks and family SUVs to performance cars and electric vehicles. Whether it’s a routine oil change, brake service or an advanced engine or transmission repair, we provide dealership-level quality without the dealership cost, using advanced diagnostic equipment and OEM-quality parts.
From traditional gas engines to hybrid and electric powertrains, we understand the technology behind the bowtie, and we’ll treat your Chevy with the care and expertise it deserves.
Chevrolet uses GM’s Oil Life Monitoring System, which adjusts oil change intervals based on how and where you drive. Most gasoline Chevys also follow a mileage-based schedule for filters, fluids and spark plugs, while the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV follow a fixed electric-vehicle schedule.
Upon completion of the standard maintenance tasks we provide an additional 30-point inspection to make sure that all components in your Chevrolet are up to date and working well.

At ExperTec Automotive, we’ve proudly offered dependable Chevrolet repair services in Huntington Beach for over 30 years. Known for their rugged reliability and versatility, Chevrolets can still develop specific issues as they age, especially with Southern California’s heat and stop-and-go driving. Our ASE-certified technicians diagnose and repair these common problems quickly and accurately, following Chevrolet factory repair guidelines and using quality parts you can trust.
Silverados, Tahoes and Suburbans with the 5.3L and 6.2L V8 use cylinder deactivation (AFM or DFM) to save fuel. Over time the special lifters can stick or collapse, causing a ticking noise, rough idle, misfires and a check engine light. Short trips and stop-and-go Huntington Beach traffic make it worse. We diagnose the cause with a full engine inspection and replace the failed lifters and related parts before damage spreads to the camshaft.
Many Chevy trucks and SUVs with the 8-speed automatic develop a shudder or vibration at highway speeds, often described as driving over rumble strips. It is usually caused by the original transmission fluid breaking down inside the torque converter. A proper fluid exchange with GM’s updated fluid fixes most cases; if the shudder has gone on too long, we inspect the torque converter and repair it as needed.
Some Chevrolet engines, including the 2.4L four-cylinder found in older Equinox and Malibu models, are known to burn oil between changes as piston rings wear. Running low on oil can damage the engine. We check oil level at every visit, perform an oil consumption test if you notice the level dropping, and walk you through repair options.
Chevy cooling systems often develop leaks from the water pump, water outlet, thermostat housing or radiator, especially on turbocharged models like the Cruze and Trax. Look for a sweet smell, puddles under the car or a rising temperature gauge. Southern California heat puts extra load on the cooling system, so we pressure-test for leaks and replace worn parts before your engine overheats.
Air conditioning problems are common on Chevrolet trucks and SUVs as condensers, hoses and evaporators age and start to leak refrigerant. In Orange County summers, weak A/C is more than an inconvenience. We use leak detection to find the exact source, repair it and recharge the system so it blows cold again.
A check engine light on a Chevy is often caused by the evaporative emissions (EVAP) system: a failing purge valve, vent solenoid or a loose gas cap. These faults can cause rough starts after fueling and will make your car fail a California smog check. Our STAR-certified smog technicians pinpoint the problem and get you passed.
