Cadillac uses the GM Oil Life Monitor, which calculates when your oil needs changing based on engine revolutions, temperature and how the vehicle is driven, and displays remaining oil life as a percentage in the Driver Information Center. Changes typically come up somewhere between about 5,000 and 7,500 miles, sooner with towing, short trips or heat, and at least once a year regardless. Items like tire rotation, air filters, spark plugs, transmission fluid and coolant follow the separate schedule in your owner’s manual. The 3.6L V6 in Cadillac models such as the SRX and XT5 can develop coolant leaks from the water pump, coolant crossover and hoses as mileage climbs. Cadillac SUVs like the SRX and Escalade route sunroof water through small drain tubes in the pillars. Cadillac’s CUE infotainment system, used on many 2013 to 2017 models including the ATS, CTS, XTS, SRX and Escalade, is known for touchscreens that crack, bubble or stop responding to touch. Ghost inputs and frozen screens are common symptoms. We diagnose whether the fault is the touch panel, display or module and replace the failed part rather than the whole unit when possible.
Escalades with the 6.2L V8 and cylinder deactivation (AFM or DFM) are known for lifter failures. Symptoms include a ticking noise, misfire codes and rough running, and a collapsed lifter can damage the camshaft. We confirm the affected cylinders with dealer-level diagnostics and replace lifters, guides and related parts, inspecting the cam for wear while the engine is apart.
The older Northstar V8 in DeVille, DTS, STS, Seville and some SRX models is well known for head gasket failures caused by weakened head bolt threads in the aluminum block. Symptoms include overheating, coolant loss and white exhaust smoke. We pressure-test the system, check for combustion gases in the coolant and explain repair options honestly before any major work.
Magnetic Ride Control shocks on the Escalade, CTS-V, STS and other models can leak fluid or fail electrically over time, causing a harsh or floaty ride and a service suspension warning. We scan the suspension module for fault codes, inspect each shock for leaks and replace failed units with the correct magnetic dampers, then confirm proper operation.
