Buick uses the GM Oil Life Monitor, which estimates remaining oil life from engine revolutions, operating temperature and driving conditions rather than a fixed mileage, and alerts you when it is time for a change, often somewhere between about 5,000 and 7,500 miles, but sooner with short trips, heat or towing. GM recommends a change at least once a year even if oil life remains.
