Expert Chevrolet maintenance and repair from ASE-certified technicians at ExperTec Automotive Anaheim.

Anaheim works its Chevys hard. Silverados tow on the 91, Tahoes and Suburbans haul families to the Disneyland Resort, and Traverses and Equinoxes grind through 5 and 57 traffic under inland summer heat that pushes cooling systems and transmissions to their limits.
ExperTec Automotive on W. Lincoln Ave in Downtown Anaheim keeps that fleet moving. Our ASE-certified technicians are familiar with Chevrolet’s known weak points, from cylinder deactivation lifter failures on V8 trucks to 8-speed shudder and timing chain codes on the 3.6L V6, and we diagnose them with dealer-level software instead of guesswork.
Every job uses OEM-quality parts and carries a 3-year/36,000-mile nationwide warranty, so you are covered far beyond Angel Stadium. We have served Orange County for 30+ years and been voted OC’s best auto repair 10 years running.
Chevrolet gas models use the GM Oil Life Monitor, which tracks engine revolutions, operating temperature and driving conditions to estimate when the oil is worn out, rather than using a fixed mileage. Changes typically come up somewhere around 5,000 to 7,500 miles, sooner with towing, idling, short trips or heat, and GM calls for at least one change a year. The monitor covers only engine oil, so tire rotations, air filters, transmission fluid, spark plugs and coolant follow the separate schedule in your owner’s manual, with severe-use intervals for trucks that tow or haul. We use dexos-approved oil and reset the monitor after service.
Upon completion of the standard maintenance tasks we provide an additional 30-point inspection to make sure that all components in your Chevrolet are up to date and working well.

At ExperTec Automotive, we’ve been repairing Chevrolet vehicles in Orange County for over 30 years. Even well-built Chevrolet models develop specific problems as they age, and freeway commutes on the 5, 91 and 57 and inland summer heat add to the wear. Our Anaheim technicians diagnose these issues quickly, follow Chevrolet factory repair procedures and use quality parts you can trust.
Many mid-to-late 2010s Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Colorado and Camaro models with the 8-speed automatic are known for a shudder or vibration at steady speeds, often traced to the torque converter clutch and fluid. Many vehicles improve with a fluid exchange using updated fluid. We confirm the symptom on a road test with live data and recommend the right fix.
Malibu, Traverse, Blazer and some other Chevy models are known for a Shift to Park message that appears even when the shifter is already in Park, sometimes preventing the vehicle from shutting off. The cause is often a worn switch inside the shifter assembly. We confirm the fault with dealer-level diagnostics and repair or replace the shifter components as needed.
Chevy trucks and SUVs with the 5.3L and other small-block V8 engines are known for broken exhaust manifold bolts, causing an exhaust leak that ticks loudly on a cold start and quiets as it warms up. Heat cycling and corrosion are the usual culprits. We remove broken bolts, resurface or replace the manifold as needed and install new hardware and gaskets.
Many Silverado, Tahoe and other GM trucks, especially late 2000s to early 2010s models, develop a clunk or knock felt in the steering wheel during low-speed turns or parking lot maneuvers. The usual cause is a worn intermediate steering shaft. We inspect the steering linkage and column, confirm the source and replace the shaft with an updated part to stop the clunk.
The 1.4L turbo engine in the Cruze, Sonic and Trax is known for coolant leaks from the water pump, thermostat housing and turbo coolant lines, plus a valve cover with an integrated PCV diaphragm that can fail and cause a whistle, rough idle and oil leaks. We pressure-test cooling and crankcase systems and replace failed parts with updated designs.
Earlier Traverse, Equinox and Camaro models with the 3.6L V6, particularly late 2000s to early 2010s, are known for timing chain stretch, often accelerated by long oil change intervals. A check engine light with cam and crank correlation codes is the usual warning. We verify stretch with live data and replace chains, guides and tensioners together.

There is no guaranteed prevention, but regular oil changes with dexos-approved oil in the correct viscosity help, and catching a tick or misfire code early can limit damage. If you hear a new ticking noise, have it checked before the camshaft is affected.
