Expert Buick maintenance and repair from ASE-certified technicians at ExperTec Automotive Costa Mesa.

Buick owners tend to value a quiet, comfortable ride, and they want a repair shop that feels the same way: no drama, no surprises. ExperTec Automotive at 1934 Newport Blvd in Costa Mesa has offered exactly that to Orange County drivers for more than 30 years.
We service the full Buick lineup, from Encore and Encore GX crossovers zipping to South Coast Plaza to three-row Enclaves loaded up for the OC Fair. Costa Mesa’s short trips and salty coastal air can shorten oil life and corrode brake hardware, so we follow the Oil Life Monitor and inspect underneath at every visit.
Our ASE-certified technicians use dealer-level scan tools and OEM-quality parts, and every repair is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile nationwide warranty. It’s the kind of care that has earned us OC’s best auto repair title 10 years in a row.
Buick uses the GM Oil Life Monitor, which estimates remaining oil life from engine revolutions, operating temperature and driving conditions rather than a fixed mileage, and alerts you when it is time for a change, often somewhere between about 5,000 and 7,500 miles, but sooner with short trips, heat or towing. GM recommends a change at least once a year even if oil life remains. The monitor only tracks oil, so tire rotations, filters, spark plugs, transmission fluid and coolant follow the separate maintenance schedule in your owner’s manual. We use dexos-approved oil and reset the monitor after every service.
Upon completion of the standard maintenance tasks we provide an additional 30-point inspection to make sure that all components in your Buick are up to date and working well.

At ExperTec Automotive, we’ve been repairing Buick vehicles in Orange County for over 30 years. Even well-built Buick models develop specific problems as they age, and 55 Freeway commutes and coastal salt air add to the wear. Our Costa Mesa technicians diagnose these issues quickly, follow Buick factory repair procedures and use quality parts you can trust.
Earlier Buick Enclaves and LaCrosses with the 3.6L V6, particularly late-2000s to early-2010s models, are known for timing chain stretch, often linked to extended oil change intervals. Symptoms include a check engine light with cam and crank correlation codes, rough running or a rattle at startup. We confirm stretch with live data and replace chains, guides and tensioners as a set.
Early Enclaves with the 6T75 six-speed automatic are known for failure of the 3-5-reverse wave plate. Owners typically notice a sudden loss of reverse and certain forward gears, sometimes with a check engine light. We scan transmission codes, check fluid for debris and explain whether a targeted internal repair or a rebuilt transmission is the better option for your vehicle.
The 1.4L turbocharged engine in the Buick Encore is known for coolant leaks from the water pump, thermostat housing and turbocharger coolant lines. Watch for a low coolant message, sweet smell after driving or white residue near the engine. We pressure-test the cooling system, find every leak point and replace the faulty parts before an overheat damages the engine.
The PCV system on the Encore’s 1.4L turbo is built into the valve cover, and when its diaphragm fails it can cause a whistle at idle, rough running, lean codes and oil leaks from pressurized seals. We smoke-test the intake, check crankcase pressure and replace the valve cover assembly with an updated design when the PCV diaphragm has failed.
Buick LaCrosse, Regal and Verano models from roughly 2010 to 2013 with the 2.4L Ecotec four-cylinder can burn oil because of piston ring and PCV design, and low oil can accelerate timing chain wear. We run an oil consumption test, inspect plugs and check the PCV system, then explain your options, which may include updated parts or more involved engine repair.
Three-row Enclaves route refrigerant lines underneath the vehicle to the rear A/C unit, and these lines can corrode and leak over time, leaving the cabin warm, especially the back rows. We dye-test and electronically sniff the system to find the leak, replace corroded lines with OEM-quality parts and recharge to the factory specification.
Our Costa Mesa auto repair shop is on Newport Boulevard, the main route between the 55 Freeway and Newport Beach, a short drive from Triangle Square and the OC Fair & Event Center.
Between 55 Freeway commutes, coastal trips to Newport and short around-town errands, Costa Mesa cars see a lot of heat, salt air and stop-and-go driving. That’s why our Costa Mesa technicians focus on catching problems early, explaining your options clearly and fixing it right the first time.
