This week on ExperTec of Huntington Beach’s cars 101 blog, we’re talking air filters.
Any gas or diesel motor needs air to work. Without oxygen, fuel won't be able to spark and make the explosive energy necessary to get your motor running. Nonetheless, not just any air will work. The air must be clean before getting sucked into your motor. Envision driving through a dust storm or rainstorm and getting the majority of that water or dust sucked into your engine. Not only will your fuel have issues igniting, there will also most likely be harm to your motor's internals. Dust, debris, and other pollutants can rapidly contaminate a motor and shorten its lifespan. Foreign particles act as abrasives to the metal parts within a motor, bringing on wear to your cylinders, cylinder rings, gaskets, and anything else they get blasted against. Current motors are additionally programmed to run most effectively on an exact proportion of oxygen to fuel, and not all air contains the same measure of oxygen.
